About Us

The Malibu Bella Vista is a relaxing California Bed and Breakfast run by Jani & Michael.  Micheal has lived here for 30 years and has enjoyed welcoming guests from near and far. Jani is from Jakarta and speaks fluent Indonesian, very good English and an impressive amount of German. 

The Bella Vista is part of our ranch-style home, which is a family and pet friendly location with several rooms available for your stay. We are located in Malibu Canyon, which is in Los Angeles County, five short miles from the Pacific Coast (our address is technically in Calabasas though). The Bed & Breakfast is in a community called Monte Nido, Spanish for 'Mountain Nest,' which perfectly describes our location nestled on the side of the Santa Monica Mountains. On the side of our one acre of property there is an upper and lower vineyard.  See the vineyard and taste the wine!

Hello! My name is Michael, the owner of the Malibu Bella Vista. We have had guests from all over the world ranging from a distance of 12 miles to 12,000 miles. What we enjoy most about our location is that we have the solitude of living in the mountains, which is very relaxing and peaceful, and yet we are also within minutes of beaches, parks, museums, theaters, and amusements parks.


A little about me and my life... I am a retired engineer and the father of two beautiful daughters who live nearby and my dear son who lives in Atlanta.
